The Sefwi Asawinso Development Association (SADA) has acknowledged the swift response of the Ghana Police Service following the unfortunate incident at Sefwi Sayerano, while calling for a thorough, transparent and timely investigation into the matter.
In a statement issued and signed by SADA, the association noted that eight police officers involved in the incident have been interdicted. It also cited a directive from the Inspector-General of Police for the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to conduct a full investigation.
“While this is a positive step toward accountability, we respectfully urge that the investigation be thorough, transparent, impartial, and concluded within a reasonable time,” the statement said.
SADA expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The association emphasized that the bereaved families deserve justice and that those injured deserve every necessary support.
The development association further appealed to residents of Sefwi Sayerano and surrounding communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with investigative authorities.
“We also appeal to all residents to remain calm, cooperate with the investigative authorities, and avoid acts of retaliation or misinformation while the investigation is ongoing,” SADA stated.
The association concluded its statement with a call for justice, professionalism, and peace to prevail in the area.
SADA, established in 2024, describes itself as a development-focused association working under the motto “RISING TOGETHER” to advance the welfare of Sefwi Asawinso and its environs.
The Ghana Police Service has yet to release further details on the circumstances surrounding the Sefwi Sayerano incident. The PPSB investigation is expected to determine the facts and recommend appropriate actions.
