The Sefwi Wiawso District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) coordinator, Mr. Thomas Mintah, has announced that work is underway on a 17km road stretch from Punikrom to Abrabra Junction. This project is part of the government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure in the Western North Region.
According to Mr. Mintah, also known as Obosom, the project involves the construction of U-drains, laying of base and sub-base courses, and surface dressing. The road passes through several communities, including Nyamenae, Aduhenekrom, Gariba, Keteboye, Swanzy, and Piase, making it motorable for road users.

This project aligns with Hon Kofi Benteh’s campaign promise during the 2024 general election, showcasing his commitment to improving infrastructure in Sefwi Wiawso. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Dominic Gyasi, has also been working on road maintenance, inspecting ongoing repair works in the Sefwi Wiawso constituency.
The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of vital equipment under the DRIP, including graders, backhoes, and other heavy machinery, to support the project. The DRIP is a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies with the necessary tools and resources to improve road networks across the country.

The project is expected to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and enhance infrastructural development while there good access of rods in the Sefwi constituency and the region as whole.
