The Minister of Health, Hon Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has paid a working visit to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where he inspected ongoing projects aimed at enhancing patient care and service delivery. The visit was part of efforts to strengthen the health sector in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s reset agenda.
During his visit, Akandoh inspected the provision of beds and trolleys, the construction of a catheterization centre, and the installation of new elevators to ease patient and staff movement. He noted that the previously non-functioning lifts had significantly impacted patient care.
Akandoh emphasized that these interventions are part of broader efforts to improve the health sector, including the establishment of an IT-powered command centre to streamline emergency responses.
The minister also announced plans to introduce new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and policy guidelines to tackle systemic lapses in the healthcare system.
The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has been facing challenges, including a viral video showing patients lying on the floor, which the hospital’s CEO, Dr Yakubu Seidu Adam, attributed to increasing numbers and ongoing renovation works.
