The Ghanaian government has paid nearly GH₵10 billion to road contractors in December 2025 to revive stalled infrastructure projects
This payment aims to ease financial pressure on contractors who faced delays in government payments, leading to slowdowns or suspensions of road construction and maintenance works.
Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, stated that clearing arrears has already yielded results, with several contractors returning to project sites.
The government is committed to improving road infrastructure nationwide and ensuring sound financial management to avoid accumulating huge arrears in the future.
