OUTRAGE IN ASAWINSO: SADA Slams “Dictatorial” MC for Gagging Citizens at Town Hall

Anger is boiling in Asawinso after the Sefwi-Asawinso Development Association (SADA) accused the MC of a recent Town Hall Meeting of deliberately silencing residents and violating Ghana’s laws.

“LET THE PEOPLE SPEAK!” the group declared in a fiery statement released Monday, calling the MC’s conduct “illegal, shameful, and anti-democratic.”

SADA says the MC turned a constitutional platform for accountability into a “choreographed PR session” by blocking questions, seizing mics ,shutting down critics, This, they argue, spits on Article 41(f) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 40 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which demand citizen participation.

“Town Halls are not for praise-singing. They are for hard questions,” SADA charged. “Any MC who thinks his job is to protect officials from the people should resign today.”

The group is demanding an unqualified public apology from the Municipal Assembly and a guarantee that Asawinso residents will never be gagged again.
