Mr. Thomas Mintah, popularly known in politics as Obosom, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency Chairmanship on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The declaration marks a significant step in the buildup to the party’s internal elections, as the NDC reorganizes its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Obosom is not new to the constituency’s political landscape. His service record spans multiple strategic roles within the party. He has served as Branch Secretary, Deputy Constituency Organizer, Election Director, and a member of the communication team. He currently serves as spokesperson for Hon. Kofi Benteh, a position that has placed him at the center of party messaging and public engagement in the area.
As Election Director, he coordinated polling station operations and voter mobilization drives during previous elections, earning recognition for his attention to data and grassroots organization.
Through his work on the constituency communication team and as Hon. Benteh’s spokesperson, he has built strong ties with local media and community stakeholders.His rise from Branch Secretary to Deputy Constituency Organizer reflects years of consistent service at the base of the party structure.

The Sefwi Wiawso seat remains one of the most strategic constituencies in the Western North Region. Analysts expect the chairmanship race to be closely watched as the party seeks to reposition itself after the 2024 elections.
