A traditional ruler in the Anhwiaso Traditional Council, Nana Kwasi Ato Ware II, has urged a pastor of the Truth Faith Church to retract distasteful, unpleasant, offensive and unethical comments made about Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs.
The call emanated from a video circulating on social media, where Apostle Sampson Koomson was seen on TikTok passing comments suggesting that the President of the National House of Chiefs has not rolled out any developmental projects since his assumption of office.
Nana Ato Ware emphasised that such remarks, undermine the dignity of the chieftaincy institution. He therefore called for the pastor to retract and apologise. He further indicated that the chieftaincy institution plays a pivotal role in Ghana’s traditional governance, mediating disputes and safeguarding cultural heritage. Public attacks on its leadership are seen as undermining respect for traditional authority.
Nana Ato Ware lamented that such attacks from religious and political leaders risk eroding respect for chiefs and national unity, as Ghana’s governance system relies on cooperation between modern political structures and traditional leadership.
Reacting to the unfortunate remarks, Nana Ato Ware condemned the remarks stressing that it was palpable falsehood and damaging to the reputation of the overlord. He added that the re-election of Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II to the enviable position of the President of the National House of Chiefs is a testament to the fact that he really delivered.
Recounting some of the achievements of the Paramount Chief of the Anhwiaso Traditional Council, Nana Ware, highlighted the establishment of Queens Girls Senior High School, construction of dormitories and laboratories for several senior High Schools, sanitary facilities for Bibiani, Agona Nkwanta, Mankessim market through GNPC Foundation are a tip of the iceberg. “Scholarships for brilliant but needy students, apprenticeship programmes and others are overwhelming”, Nana indicated.
He called on the leadership of the Truth Faith Church to institute punitive measures of possible demotion or excommunication from the church. He advocated for a cordial relationship between the church and traditional rulers because Jesus said “Give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar.”
