The Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has pledged the Assembly’s continued support for Persons with Disabilities, while urging beneficiaries to take good care of the income-generating items they received.
The pledge was made during a distribution exercise held on the 9th June 2026, where PWDs in the municipality were presented with equipment such as industrial sewing machines, chest freezers, and other assistive devices aimed at boosting their livelihoods.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon. Gyasi said the items were provided to promote inclusion, economic empowerment, and improved living standards for PWDs. He stressed that the Assembly’s support will continue, but the sustainability of the intervention depends largely on how well the beneficiaries maintain and use the equipment.

“I want to pledge our continued support for our brothers and sisters with disabilities. But I am also advising you to take very good care of these items you have received. When you maintain them well and use them to change your lives, it will encourage the government and the Assembly to do more for you,” he stated.
The MCE explained that when beneficiaries demonstrate responsibility and show tangible improvements in their businesses, it strengthens the case for more resources and interventions from government and development partners.

He added that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring that no group is left behind in the municipality’s development agenda, in line with the Disability Act and government’s social inclusion policies.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Hon. Gyasi and the Municipal Assembly for the support, promising to use the items diligently to expand their businesses and become self-reliant.
The distribution was coordinated by the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development with support from the Municipal Assembly and was witnessed by municipal officials and the media team.
