Amasaman High Court has reduced the 15-year prison sentence of Ghanaian evangelist Nana Agradaa to 12 months. The court ruled that the original sentence was harsh and excessive, considering the circumstances of the case ¹ ² ³.

Nana Agradaa, also known as Patricia Asiedua, was convicted of charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretenses in July 2025 for promising to double followers’ money through spiritual intervention. Over 1,000 people were affected, handing over large sums of cash.

The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, leaving Agradaa with only five months remaining. Her lawyers had appealed the sentence, arguing it was unfair and excessive.

Agradaa was found guilty of luring victims through a 2022 televised broadcast, falsely claiming to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money. Over 1,000 people reportedly handed over large sums of cash only to receive nothing in return.

The court’s decision has sparked mixed reactions, with some viewing it as a victory for justice and others criticizing it as too lenient.
